It looks like a standard locking mechanism.

The newest locking hdmi cable is coming with two metal springs on both left and right side of the connectors.
Hdmi connections don t fit as tightly as a component or composite video connection and sometimes slip out.
I have an hdmi cable that i can t take out of my television sharp aquos lc70le632u that i use as a monitor.

If those pins are already bent you would probably better off getting a new cable one that doesn t have those locking pins as they usually end up broken and causing more issues than they solve.
Make sure the cable is tightly fitted at both ends.
Just about every recent connector regardless of purpose appears to be one that is already quite fragile and doesn t provide for any ability to lock the connector to the device and even when it does it s not always provided like laptops that don t have vga.
I have a yamaha receiver and the output hdmi cable did not want to make a good connection.
They look fairly similar to hdmi though especially to the untrained eye so you re going to get people who don t realise that.

Hdmi cables are known for easily coming loose from their input.
The instructions were clear and concise.
Hdmi connectors have no locking mechanism to secure the hdmi cable but instead use a friction connection to hold the hdmi cable in its input.

This problem can become worse over time after plugging and unplugging several times.
However as i go to plug it into my laptop it feels a little firm.
I recently purchased a comsol hdmi cable.
It took about 5 minutes to install.

It was in a limited space and the cable would tend to work loose.
